Values
The Word of God – 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 1, 119, 105; John 17:17; 2 Peter 1:21
- We value the Word of God in its entirety, that it contains no errors, is perfect from start to finish, and will endure forever. We believe it is sufficient as a guide to live by and if obeyed will produce Biblical maturity. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
Biblical Prayer – Luke 18:1-8; 2 Timothy 2:1-2; Matthew 7:7-11; James 5:16; James 4:1-10
- We value the necessity of prayer in every Christian’s life because it is our communication with God. It demonstrates our dependence on Him and our faith that He hears and answers prayer. It should be done privately as well as corporately, containing aspects of praise, thanksgiving, petitions and confession.
Biblical Unity – John 17:20-21; Ephesians 4:3-6; Proverbs 6:16-19; Colossians 3:15
- We value unity in the church around the Word of God. It is essential for the body of Christ to be in unity for it to be a healthy, ministry-minded church. Disunity is a tool of the devil and harmful to the church. Peace and unity develop from coming under the Word of God and its authority.
Biblical Love – 1 Corinthians 13:1-8; John 13:35; 2 Peter 1:5-7; Hebrews 13:1; Mark 12:31
- We value love in the body of Christ. It is one of the indicators of being a Christian. This love is an action and produces Biblical fruit as found in 1 Corinthians 13. When Biblical love is practiced, it will be attractive to the world and edifying in the church.
Biblical Holiness – 1 Peter 1:16; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; John 17:17
- We value holiness as God’s standard for Christian living. Holiness is the idea of being set apart and sanctified for the Father’s use. It keeps us from sin, helps maintain a good testimony, and produces Christ-like actions.
Biblical Forgiveness – Matthew 6:14-15; Ephesians 4:32; Matthew 18:21-35; Hebrews 12:15
- We value forgiveness as an essential practice for Christ-honoring living. It is not only Jesus’ command in the New Testament, but was demonstrated by His attitude while on the cross. Our call is to release the offender of his debt, forgive, let go of the offense, and reject bitterness.
Biblical Gospel – Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 1:8; John 3:16
- We value the Gospel as God’s good news about how sinful man can be right with a holy God. When faith is placed in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, a person passes from death to life. It is this reality that motivates us to do missions locally and around the world.
Biblical Family – Genesis 1:26-28; Ephesians 5:18-33; Psalm 127, 139:13-15
- We value family as defined in the Bible. Marriage is defined as being one man and one woman for life. Children are a blessing from the Lord and should be loved, trained in the Scriptures, and encouraged to trust Christ for salvation.
Biblical Giving – Matthew 6:19-21; Luke 6:38
- We value giving as a form of worship and gratitude. Giving helps us recognize that everything we have comes from God and that He desires us to give back to Him. This includes our time, talents, treasures, and abilities, as well as giving to others.
Biblical Discipleship – Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians. 2:10
- We value discipleship in obedience to Christ’s command to make disciples. Discipleship is simply following Christ, living out His teachings, and teaching others to do the same. This process can be summarized in three steps—1.) Knowing Christ, 2.) Growing in Christ, 3.) Sharing Christ.
Biblical Worship – Romans 12:1-2; John 4:21-24
- We value worship as a healthy part of Christian living. Worship is singing, giving, living a Christ honoring life, etc. It is our privilege to worship God in an honoring way, and will be part of our actions in heaven.
Biblical Fellowship – Acts 2:46-47
- We value fellowship in the family of God. It is healthy to meet together, share life together, enjoy a meal and encourage one another in the Word of God as a Biblical community.
